8th year of NO MEAT 6th year of NON SMOKING...c'mon Gods
Fucking internet! I have been trying to use craigslist & yet very simply I respond to people that are offering a bargain, for housing & yet still all I get is snobbery. I was really feeling good about a woman that works for Peta saying that I could share a place with her and help her hand out fliers. Because I'm not an activist I made that clear, but because I'm not working I'm not suitable enough I was just told. This is shit. I'm not interested in hearing the people around me drink, smoke, eat meat or even talk about it..let alone sex and the anxiety THAT drama entails. Gabh mo leithscale

Vegan Beltaine!?!
I've been on disability, for major depression now for a little over two yrs. Not only has counseling not been provided daily, but having the ability to socialize daily let alone have stable housing with other queer veggie people been made available. I'm in a situation now with a gay couple that I do not get along with, they cook meat & want me out. Meanwhile I still haven't received an insurance card nor a Sprint bill in this freaking long. How insanely rude it feels to go this long without having any sex, but atleast I don't have any stds.

I want to once again live in a house that has a kitchen.
Once again I've had a year-year and a half of struggle with homeless issues
I am now on disability, for mental health.
I do not have any chemical dependency issues nor do I have hiv.
Yet somehow I was finally approved for ssi/ssdi. really need stability- cooking for myself

first post! w00t!

yeah, it's cheating a bit since i haven't advertised this community anywhere else yet, but i figured it'd be nice to at least have something here for people to look at once they've joined. first, pix of your host [clicky!]. secondly: a funny story. i decided to become vegetarian (i >3 cheese and chocolate way too much to ever consider giving them up) because i was living on campus and my choices were: 1) become vegetarian and force myself to eat healthier as a result, or 2) swell up into some ginormously gross lardball. since i hadn't eaten a steak in over a year and hadn't had any chicken for two or so weeks already by that point, i figured "what the hell". my parents had a minor knipschen fit. i'd been gently easing them into the idea that i would probably turn vegetarian by buying morning star chik patties (mmmm. yes, i realize that this makes me a cryptocarnivore [read microserfs for the reference]) and veggie burgers. mom and dad for whatever reason had major difficulties with this, but once it was all figured out that i would find plenty to eat at holiday dinners and not starve all settled down a bit. the irony is that me being vegetarian was a bigger deal to them than me being gay (when i came out to them a couple weeks later) was. go figure, right?

anyways, something good comes out of all of this, and that is (as many of you probably know) that while everyone is gorging themselves on turkey / ham / whatever, i end up having plenty of space left for dessert >D
